CFI is a membership network where financial leaders from traditional banks, neobanks or challengers, and businesses come together with faculty and students at UC Merced to share best practices in digitalization and fintech.
Members get access to symposia on specific topics related to fintech as well as special events hosted throughout the year where they can network with colleagues. They can also view virtual mini-lectures or “FIN Talks”.
To prepare our students for the future, CFI has a Fintech Innovation Lab for student teams to design and test innovative solutions to fintech challenges and present their findings to judging panels comprised of members.
Digital transformation is changing how we think about banking and financial transactions. In this day and age, customers no longer want to go to a bank branch to create an account, make deposits, purchase goods, and get loans. In fact, “banking” does not even require a traditional bank building at all.
Digitalization is predicated on cutting edge financial technologies (fintech) that enable financial institutions to offer these services at their customer’s fingertips.
The Center for Fintech Innovation (CFI) was founded to help financial leaders, faculty, and students keep up with the latest technologies in banking and financial transactions.
