CFI Symposia

CFI organizes free symposia addressing particular aspects of fintech and features presentations by faculty, other network members, and expert practitioners in banking and technology. The presentations are specifically directed towards banking professionals, faculty, and students while minimizing the use of jargon and highlighting clear and simple messages.

CFI’s goal is to ensure that these symposia remain free to attend and view online. However, to ensure that the symposia are relevant and to share best practices across the network, we invite you to consider hosting a CFI symposium and presenting on a topic of interest to you and your colleagues. Your support has the potential to reach and forever impact a highly intelligent national and international audience.

Upcoming Symposia

CFI symposia are held virtually to enable you to participate from anywhere and are accessible across the globe via live webinar. Each presentation is video recorded and archived in the CFI fintalks section. If you are a member, you will be able to access the recorded summary of the discussion after the symposium. Below is the list of upcoming symposia. We hope you join us!

Digital Transformation: It’s about the journey, not the destination. You’re a bank. You’re told that you have to digitize or die. But you have already invested millions in your IT infrastructure. What do you do? In this symposium, we discuss the process of digital transformation and different models that others have done to digitize their presence from conventional banks to neobanks and even non-financial institutions.

Beyond Banking: Reaching the underbanked and unbanked. "Hiding money in your mattress" is not an anachronism. While the number of underbanked households in the US is dropping, there are still over 20 million households that are underbanked and over 6% with no bank account at all. Globally, there are over 1.5 billion individuals that are unbanked or underbanked – creating an opportunity to reach this virtually untapped market – IF we move down a digital path. Join us in this symposium, where we discuss strategies for reaching underbanked and unbanked populations.
